Welcome Solange, new ETZ Data Protection Officer (DPO)

Following on from our recent blog about our relocation to our new London HQ at New Cavendish Street in the heart of Fitzrovia, we promised to keep you posted about any other exciting developments.
The first one is to announce the appointment of Solange Semedo as our Data Protection Officer (DPO) and legal counsel.
This appointment is a major step forward in two respects:

• As we continue to extend our presence and influence in the FinTech market, proper handling of legislation, regulation and compliance are pivotal to our success.

• The advent of GDPR means we need to have the expertise onboard to consult and advise us and our clients on any matters relating to our services and data protection.

Why regulatory and legal expertise is important for our clients

Solange is a multilingual legal professional with over 10 years’ experience. This allows ETZ to service clients at the highest level across all of Europe, the Americas, Africa and the Far East.
Solange has seen how legislation is applied and impacts businesses from three different perspectives.

• Firstly, Solange has specialised in compliance and corporate investigations, having worked for the UK competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). This means she understands the perspective of regulators.

• Secondly, she has also worked for leading international law firms, giving her the viewpoint as seen by a private legal practitioner.

• Finally – and most importantly – she has worked as an in-house legal counsel servicing a number of industry sectors including IP/IT, eDiscovery, oil & gas, insurance/reinsurance, aerospace, shipping, automotive. This is most important because it means she has the insight to understand things from the perspective of our clients.
