ETZ relocates UK office to Fitzrovia aiming to help create an exciting FinTech hub

Thriving FinTech scene in London

ETZ is on the move! We needed more space in London to help us to keep in step with the growth of our FinTech (Financial Technology) business. But where to?
Self-styling itself as ‘The World’s FinTech Newspaper’, The FinTech Times suggests that London is the FinTech capital of the world and evidences the claim by saying 17 of the world’s top 50, (that’s more than one third) of FinTech firms have chosen London as their home.
There is no denying that the London scene is very strong. These companies have created an ecosystem that supports innovation and startups around the FinTech space.

If London’s a FinTech global hub, where’s the centre?

But if London is the hub of the global FinTech movement, where is the centre of the hub? London is a pretty big, sprawling city. The obvious place is the City of London. However, Canary Wharf is also a candidate. But these are traditional places where ‘old money’ financial businesses have based themselves.
Today’s young and dynamic FinTech companies are disruptors, breaking up the old monopolies (and creating new ones perhaps!). Silicon Roundabout, centred on Old Street and Shoreditch has established itself as one of the epicentres for tech development startups in London.
The stereotype of young, tech savvy coders bashing away at changing the world, and perhaps grabbing a slice of the future for themselves in the process, is a ‘business model’ that originated in Silicon Valley in California. It is clearly mirrored around Silicon Roundabout.

But ETZ isn’t a startup and that really isn’t our image. We’re a well established company with a global footprint. So for our new home, we’ve chosen New Cavendish Street in the heart of Fitzrovia as our new London HQ. This is already home to established companies. Facebook and Spotify, to name but two, are nearby.
In and around the FinTech space we’re hoping to spark a trend that sees more companies gravitate to the area, making Fitzrovia the ‘FinTech capital of the UK’. With close proximity to other disruptors in the FinTech space, it’s a place of innovation and a highly inspiring time, so expect to see some exciting new things coming from us soon!
